Meet luckyplussize, divine Mrs Vayne!

Hello everyone, we would like to introduce a long term influence on luckyplussize! Vayne has been wearing luckyplussize for years and she is one of many body positive babes who help other women feel confident in their own skin. We sat down for a virtual interview with luckyplussize to talk about her body positivity journey and her passion for fashion.

1.   Tell us about you!

Hi, I'm Vayne and I'm a Sparkle. I'm a Georgia-Lena girl living in the Pacific Northwest with my husband of 12 years and our dogs Finnegan and Dobby. I'm a big fan of boy bands (New Kids On The Block, Westlife and Backstreet Boys are my favourites), Outlander, Star Wars, glitter/sequins/sparkles, all chihuahuas and pigs with wings. I love playing Skyrim, ESO and Animal Crossing. In 2019 I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer, which was a huge turning point in my life. While I'm a nerd who really enjoys quiet time painting and game nights with friends, I miss travel and adventure so much right now!

2. How would you best describe your personal style?

I call my style the 3Cs – casual, colorful, and cute! I’m a casual girl at heart, but I love fun and flirty pieces, colorful prints, feminine elements like ruffles, and sparkly embellishments. I’m practical but extra, so you will definitely see me in rhinestone sneakers; and I never leave home without accessorizing.

3. Who is your style icon?

In terms of emulating someone’s style, I don’t think I have an icon. I try to learn more about myself and my likes and be as authentically me as possible. But if we are talking about style that makes me happy and I love, I would say Mindy Kaling, Caitriona Balfe, Sabrina on “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”, and Betsey Johnson.

4. What is your favorite fashion era and why?

I’ve been drawn to the fifties era since I was a kid. I love the full skirts and fit-and-flare styles, glamorous hair, and makeup. I’m also drawn to style of the 40s a lot as well.

5. In what year did you discover Kiyonna Clothing?

I first found out about luckyplussize at the end of 2022. I'm a size 26/28 and it's hard to find clothes in brick and mortar stores so I decided to take a chance and order!

6. How did you first hear about our brand?

I probably first came across luckyplussize's work when searching the internet for plus size clothes, or on a blog. I just remember being excited because there were more clothing options out there that I didn't even know existed.

7. What makes our style stand out?

I feel like they are well-made upscale pieces with a timeless look. The products of luckyplussize look more refined and mature. They represent who I want to be one day. I've gotten so used to only buying items that happen to clear out and fit me that at that point in my life I don't give myself a lot of time to think about my personal style.

8. What made you decide to become a member of luckyplussize?

this is very simple. I love these clothes! Every piece by luckyplussize is well made, fits well and makes me feel beautiful. I hope everyone learns about luckyplussize and has a chance to feel the same.

9. Do you remember your first luckyplussize style? Tell us about your memory of the first time you wore that top/skirt/skirt.

My first luckyplussize style was the Maggie Polka Dot Dress! I love the retro feel of it and decided to go ahead and buy it during the sale, not sure if anything would fit. When I put it on I couldn't believe how well it fit! The upper arms are perfect. I don't think I need shapewear. It was flirty, it was funny, and it made me feel so pretty for the first time in a long time. I am hooked! I wore it to a Valentine's dinner with my husband and it felt very special.


10. What style do you wear most?

Oh my goodness! I don't think the luckyplussize style I've worn hasn't been complimented. The Stop and Stare Ruched Dress gets tons of compliments! I wore it to an afternoon live show in Portland about breaking the rules of plus size fashion, and the dress was a hit! Wrap luxe dresses are always the holiday party go-to, and I'm always approached by strangers to compliment the style. Vienna Maxi dresses are a huge hit, both in person and with my online readers and followers. Penny Peplum tops always get compliments too.

11. What styles do you find yourself recommending to plus-size women?

This answer also deals with Plus size Babadoll. I love the easy fit and how it accentuates my bust but gives me more room elsewhere. Great for travel. It can be casual or a little more formal. I especially love the prints and always get compliments when I wear any of my pieces. The wrap dress at luckyplussize is also well done. I always mention those, especially for simple artifacts.

12. Have you ever introduced luckyplussize to a lover who eventually became a fan too?

Thanks to my blog, I have had the privilege of introducing so many people to luckyplussize. Many people have reached out to express how much they love the pieces they purchased, and how they feel at luckyplussize. On a personal level, I ended up gifting a close friend of mine a Plus size Babadoll because she commented how much she liked mine (the blue silk babydoll). She was going through a rough time when it arrived, then she sent me a picture of her at the top with a huge smile on her face. It has become one of her favorite tops and has made her a fan of luckyplussize!

13. What is your favorite style?

I have to say wrapped in a luckyplussize dress. It's a gorgeous velvet teal gown that I don't wear very often, but it makes me feel like a movie star. It always gets compliments from friends and strangers alike when I wear it!

14. Which 3 adjectives would you use to describe luckyplussize?

Classic, chic and eye-pleasing!

15. What is your style advice to other women?

Forget the rules! We've all been taught a lot of rules about what we should and shouldn't wear. Forget all of that and focus on the things that amaze you and reflect who you are. I also highly recommend pushing yourself from time to time to try new things outside your comfort zone—new colors, new necklines, new styles. I'm always learning something new about myself, and by opening up whole new worlds of items I love, it almost always yields incredible results!
